Data science is one of the most powerful tools available to help us make decisions, but it comes with a responsibility. We'll explore the ethical dilemmas data scientists face, from bias and accuracy in predictive models to privacy and security of personal data to economic opportunities for people of all backgrounds. We'll also discuss the specific challenges of using data science in the real world, such as interpreting complex results, understanding the implications of results, and ensuring appropriate inputs.
Our panelists are experts in the field who will share their insights and experiences in the ethical use of data science from a physicist’s point of view. They are Aishik Ghosh from UC Irvine and Berkeley Lab, Ian René Solano-Kamaiko from Cornell University, and Savannah Thais from Columbia University.
